Operation Christmas Child – 2010

November 11th, 2010

On this weeks program (November 13th) we are featuring “OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD,” an annual evangelistic outreach sponsored by the Christian Relief Organization, Samaritan’s Purse. Each year since 1993, the ministry has been collecting shoe boxes filled by individuals to give as a Christmas gift to children and orphans around the world that live in poverty.

Each shoebox is filled with age and gender appropriate toys, school supplies, and hygienic products, the box is sealed, wrapped and turned over at a drop off point with $7 per box to assist with shipping costs. The boxes are picked up and then delivered to a central distribution point where they are processed and then shipped to a specific country.

Participants can track their shoebox and are emailed when it is delivered. In addition to the contents, children are presented with a gospel track which prayerfully will reach a family for Christ.

Just a few dollars…. the cost of a quick meal, and you can have a direct and tremendous impact for Christ on a child and his or her family.

My wife and I have participated in this for several years and it has been a tremendous blessing for us. I highly recommend everyone to become involved with this project. For more information log on to http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/
